Syria now the biggest threat to UK security
The threat from returning fighters of the Syrian civil war is now supposedly the same as from Al-Qaeda. As many as 500 Britons have been to Syria to fight in the past 3 years. The fear is that these people who have been radicalised in Syria are being encouraged to return to the UK and carry out attacks here.
A senior Whitehall source told The Telegraph: ‘We are seeing a growing threat to the UK from terrorist groups in Syria. The threat to the UK comes from a range of countries and groups but Syria is perhaps the biggest challenge right now.’
G4S Contract ban lifted
Security firm G4S will now be considered for government contracts again after it was banned due to a row about overcharging. G4S agreed to pay £109m after it was discovered they were overcharging for prisoner security tags.
G4S said it would now seek to bid for contracts where it had “proven expertise”.
” Today’s ministerial statement marks an important milestone in rebuilding our relationship with the UK government,” its chief executive Ashley Almanza said.
“As part of our overall programme to strengthen the governance, management and performance of our UK government business we have consolidated central government contracts into a single business unit under new leadership and enhanced contract management processes.”

Patience Perez victim speaks out.
The un-named 15 year old victim of 23 year old school security officer Patience Perez has spoken out against her in an interview with American TV network WTKR. The interview came after a judge told Perez she can avoid jail as long as she has counselling.
Perez took the boy home, gave him alcohol and marijuana and had sex with him. She met him in the hallway of his school, where she gave him her telephone number. ‘Like any other teenager, you would think that you’re the man,’ he said. ‘You got this older female that’s giving you her contact information.’
Perez reportedly told the boy that her husband was physically and verbally abusive and she wanted him dead.
News International security chief ‘would not break law’
The head of security of News International has claimed that he is loyal to his employer but ‘would not commit a crime for anyone’. Mark Hanna told the jury at the phone hacking trail ‘I believe what I did was legal’.

Bob: Britain’s first security robot
The plot of James Cameron’s Terminator may finally be coming to fruition. Bob has been implemented in G4S offices in Gloucestershire. If he spots something suspicious he reports it to his human colleagues. Bob is on a 3 week trial and scientists are assessing his performance. It’s part of a £7.2 million project by the University of Birmingham.
Bob can even speak to colleagues, ask for help and plug himself in to charge!
Here’s what G4S spokesman Stewart Angell had to say: ‘Bob is not about replacing our security officers; the security officers are at the point of use, They are able to make incisive, very, very quick decisions about changes in the environment. Bob is a complimentary activity that can do guard tours over a period of time overnight or during the day, but also pick up on some of the low level activities that the guard doesn’t necessary need to be involved in.’
Obama to consult US security team over Iraq
White House officials have said that US President Barack Obama is to consult the US national security team over the crisis in Iraq.
‘Late last week the President asked his national security team to prepare a range of options that could help support Iraq and counter the threat from ISIL. This evening after returning to the White House from California, the President met with his National Security Council to discuss the situation in Iraq. The President will continue to consult with his national security team in the days to come’ – White House spokesperson.

World Cup 2014: Brazilian air force acquires drone to assist security
A certain football tournament starts tonight in Brazil and no chances are being taken with security. Israel, the world biggest exporter of drones will reportedly be keeping an eye on the proceedings from above.
It should come as no surprise then that Brazil’s security forces have costs 5 times as much as South Africa.
Shoplifter stabs Tesco security guard with syringe after claiming she had HIV
Janine Clough (35), who lied about having the virus, admitted causing actual bodily harm to the guard, at Tesco Express in Leicester’s Belgrave Gate, on November 4.
After two guards confronted her for trying to leave the store without paying for some meat she said: “I’ve got HIV and if you come near me I will put this in you.”
Mrs Clough reportedly has 211 offences on her criminal record.

England fans sneak in to team hotel
Three England fans have snuck into the team hotel after telling the security they needed the toilet.
Andy Richardson, 22, Alex Hill, 20, and Josh Pearce, 19, blagged their way into the hotel and proceeded to drink beer take selfies with the players. Afterwards the boys walked right out of the front door.
‘There was armed police everywhere so we sun bathed on the beach for three hours. Then we thought ‘f**k it’ we are going in. There were 20 armed police and I hopped towards them saying I needed the toilet. They fell for the trick and suddenly we were in. Roy Hodgson was there so we started off getting a photo with him. Within the next three or four hours we got pictures with most the squad. We ended up having six beers and a club sandwich as we did it. We walked out the hotel and the Brazilian kids started shouting and running’ Andy from Worcester told.
Are these boys delinquents or legends? I know what I think..
Rail delays after security alert at London Victoria
Thousands of commuters face major delays after Victoria Station was evacuated after reports of a suspicious package.
The item, which was originally rumoured to be an exploded bomb from World War Two was later found to be a mere camping gas cylinder.
A Network Rail spokesman has said that the station has re-opened but delays are still likely for several hours.
The London Fire Brigade tweeted: ‘Firefighters were in attendance at an incident in #Victoria but @metpoliceuk have declared the area safe & we are leaving the scene.’
A British Transport Police spokesman said: “Officers were called to London Victoria mainline station at 10.36am after the discovery of what was believed to be a suspicious item at a site near the station. The device was discovered by maintenance workers at the site on Vauxhall Bridge Road and a police cordon was established around the surrounding area to allow emergency services to carry out an investigation. BTP officers attended alongside colleagues from the Metropolitan Police Service and discovered the item in question was a camping gas cylinder. Some trains were briefly delayed and cancelled at Victoria while the investigation was carried out, and the incident was resolved at 11.07am.”

Police cordoned off a large area in the northwest of Moncton, New Brunswick, and ordered city residents to stay inside as officers searched for the suspect; Justin Bourque, who was considered armed and dangerous.
England security gaffe sees player passport numbers hit social media
The passport numbers of the England squad were published in a monumental security breach at the Sun Life Stadium.
An hour before the team played against Ecuador in Miami, the team sheets were passed around the press box as usual. The one difference this time was that the list included the passport numbers of every player in the England and Ecuador squads. Within minutes, the passport numbers were being published on social media.

Security services reportedly ignored warnings about Abu Hamza
A former spy has told The Telegraph that MI5 and Scotland Yard ignored warnings that Britain’s most dangerous preacher of hate was establishing an international hub of terrorism.
Speaking from Algeria, where he still lives in fear of a revenge attack from al-Qaeda years after his role was exposed, Mr Hassaine said: “They were given money when they needed it and slowly pulled into the orbit of the other battle-hardened veterans who then worked out when a recruit was right for a trip overseas to a training camp. When combatants returned from foreign wars they would eventually be ready for Abu Hamza to step in and finish the job of brainwashing them.”
Pakistan Prime Minister holds key security meeting
Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif chaired a meeting on Tuesday with the National Security Commission.
The National Security Commission reportedly reviewed the security situation along the Pak-Afghan border and the possible withdrawal of NATO forces from Afghanistan.
Ebay security compromised
Ebay has warned users to change the passwords to their accounts after it’s database was compromised.
In the wake of the breach, Ebay have been criticized for not doing enough to protect their users and not encrypting sensitive information.
In a statement, the company claimed that after conducting extensive tests on its networks, the company said it has no evidence of the compromise leading to any unauthorized activity for eBay users however changing passwords is still recommended.

Teenager dies after being tasered by police following a fight with hotel security staff
Baltimore City Police are investigating the death of the teen, who fell into a coma and later died after the incident at the Good Samaritan Hospital in the Maryland, America, city.
Police tried to subdue the 19-year-old after he was involved in a fight with at least five staff while he was being treated for emotional distress.
A hospital spokesperson said: “There are sometimes circumstances that threaten the safety of our staff, which necessitate police intervention.”
Police security at Parliament may be reduced.
Police may be replaced by private guards to cover some aspects of security at the Houses of Parliament. The metropolitan police currently provide all the security services for parliament.
Many officers are of course being cut to try and save money however the Met will still provide armed officers.
